Type of Organization:
Departmental/Academic Focus

Description:
It was the vision of many forward-looking individuals that there be an active organization on campus to promote and sustain a sense of community among college students, faculty and staff, and community members through the exploration and study of anthropology as an academic discipline and, more generally, as a meaningful way of engaging in society. Thus, the Anthropology Collective came into being. Some of the intellectually-driven goals of the Collective are as follows: --to encourage the study of anthropology and act as an outreach for students exploring majors; --to promote collaboration among students and various organizations on campus and in the community that would benefit from the knowledge and skills acquired in the study of anthropology; --to share information concerning internships, job opportunities, scholarships, and graduate programs in the field of anthropology and the social sciences in general; --to ensure that undergraduate students who are looking to study anthropology at the graduate level have sufficient knowledge of the opportunities available to them and that they have the resources and support to achieve their goals; --to be a fun and positive addition to campus life at St. Cloud State University. I mean, have you ever taken an anthropology class and not had fun? Ridiculous question, I know.
